 General

 Don't feel like reading?

Several years ago, I was driving and the wind was puffing through the barely cracked windows in opposition to the bass at the beginning of Nine Inch Nail's 'gave up' out of a very loud and precise stereo system. It was a rapid alteration of punching bass and loud wind with Reznor saying his words, like he does. The sound cancellation was just astounding to me for some reason. I've heard it since in several other forms between the rock and alternative genres, but greatly in techno. I've played with it a little in the past. Patience was probably my first recording of the like. But I've never had the opportunity to experiment with it like I've really wanted to. As you may be aware, pieces of my computer exploded a few months ago. The new machine I've built has given me the chance to record and process a totally different type of music. (Plus, I lost all of my other projects, so there's nothing to go back to or work from*.) However ironic, the title of this album has nothing to do with my computer 'crashing'. Neither does it have anything to do with the 'sound' the album has, but rather the content and it's personal meaning. But strictly musically: I dabbed into a few genre's I hadn't had a chance to play with before and I got a lot of music out in the process. You'll notice that if you listen at a low volume, turn the bass all the way down or play with your EQ, it will sound a bit different and you'll catch things you wouldn't, normally. I really concentrated on the flow of the overall composition, more so than in the past, and I'd have to suggest downloading it all before listening to it. If you haven't heard anything by me before, then check out a few tracks.

*Week or so after I wrote this; on track 17 - which didn't even exist as an idea at the time of the writing; I used some of the same drum sounds I had used in Raven, but I stick to the meaning I was trying to convey.

 Release History

There was a small demo release on 2004/04/20, as you may notice by the compile dates, that I gave to a few friends to get feedback. I printed these out and taped them to slim cases.

I also made a few other copies (30+) along the way for other friends, including a mix CD of my music. It was sort of a 'sampler' for two coworkers that hadn't heard my music before. May I emphasize that this is 'at work'/? So, excuse the lack of preferred software applications: I made this (below) in MS Excel, took a screen capture, cut it up in MS Paint, pasted it into MS Word, played with sizing, printed two, cut out and used as a horrible insert that didn't even end up fitting.

Then, I had the boys really hit it and they got their act together enough to crank out the rest of the album. Giving them a deadline of June 1st and beating them (or in Prime's case, taking him apart, piece by piece) on an irregular basis was a great idea, but who would take pictures of that? Here's one of them working happily (below). Curious G mapping out the grooves, the Prime Minister of Optimum Funk, who got jams kickin' out from a 1980 FP-826 and The Storm supervising, counseling, stopping people, dead in they tracks and administering the ultima-whisper beatbox, as necessary...
